TVNZ and Spark Sport have Rugby World Cup 2019 covered, at home and in Japan, delivering 48 games streamed live and on demand on Spark Sport and twelve games free-to-air on TVNZ 1, comprehensive supporting analysis, and in-depth news coverage - on and off the field.

Tonight’s coverage brings you the Rugby World Cup 2019 opening ceremony, along with the first match; Japan V Russia.

Movie: Sunday Theatre: By The Balls

Seen through the eyes of New Zealand’s legendary rugby players, and from on the field at the 1987 World Cup, this is the compelling story of how the All Blacks struggled to come back from their darkest days.

Led by David Kirk, who was once outcast from his own team, this group of players were fighting for their pride facing their old adversaries in one of the greatest grudge matches of all time.

Get unprecedented backstage access during the Broadway production of American Idiot, inside the studio with creators Green Day and even at the Grammy® Awards with the band and cast in this incredible documentary.

Find out how Billie Joe Armstrong, a punk rock superstar, ended up on the Broadway stage and how he was transformed by the world of theater.

“The film ultimately is a profile of a famous artist [Billie Joe Armstrong] brave enough to try something completely different,” says director Doug Hamilton.

Based on the novel by Stephen King (IT), highschool geek Arnie Cunningham falls in love with "Christine", a bright red 1957 Plymouth Fury car which has seen much better days.

Setting himself the task of restoring the car to its original condition, his friends notice that the car is not the only thing that is changing. Arnie seems to spend more and more time with his car. He's also developed a sort of cocky arrogance which does not seem like the real Arnie at all.

Starring Alexandra Paul, John Stockwell, Keith Gordon and Harry Dean Stanton. Directed by John Carpenter.

New Season: Taskmaster

Thursday 19th September, 8.30pm

Taskmaster returns for a hilarious ninth series – and this time a Kiwi is fighting to win!

Greg Davies is the Taskmaster, in one hand he brandishes his sparkling golden face-trophy, in the other sits Little Alex Horne, his ever-popular personal secretary.
