Police say they are still treating the death of a man found at a property in the Auckland suburb of Sandringham this morning as unexplained.

They've revealed this afternoon that the deceased is a man in his fifties.

The death has been referred to the coroner, he added.

Formal identification is yet to be completed and police are not in a position to name the man, Mr Pascoe said.
