Bus hits pole in central Auckland as driver suffers apparent medical event

A bus has collided with a pole in central Auckland after police say the driver apparently suffered a medical event.

Police and ambulance are currently on the scene at the intersection of Mayoral Drive and Greys Avenue where the crash happened around 7.35pm.

The passengers on the bus have not been injured, but the driver appears to have suffered a medical event, police say in a statement.

The road is partially blocked.

Police say the Serious Crash Unit will be examining the scene so the public are asked to avoid the area.
