A British tourist has died at a Coromandel Peninsula beach yesterday.
Andrew Massey, from Kent, had been seen swimming with family members when he got into trouble in the water at Ocean Beach shortly after 6pm, police said.
The 68-year-old was brought to shore and CPR was attempted but he could not be saved.
His death will be referred to the Coroner.
