Police searching the Waikato River for a missing 36-year-old man have recovered a body.
The body was located about 10.30am today and a formal identification process will now take place, police said in a statement tonight.
Police say they are unable to provide any further detail at this stage.
Police have been looking for a 36-year-old man in the Waikato River who was said to have fled from officers just over a week ago, on Friday April 27.
Officers had been to a Hamilton property that night to see man in relation to a serious assault on a woman earlier that day, but he left the property on foot.

He was seen in the water later but disappeared from sight before police were able to reach him.
